Indonesian Pride! Kopiko becomes a sponsor for Korean drama “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha"

After charming audiences in the drama Start Up as Han Ji Pyeong, now Kim Seon Ho is back with his newest drama titled ‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’ with beautiful actress Shin Min Ah. Their most recent drama has once again become the talk of Indonesian netizens, especially on Twitter. This is due to the appearance of the Kopiko candy in the 3rd episode that was broadcasted last Saturday (4/9), after previously appearing in the 1st episode.

Netizens are very excited that a local candy brand that they are proud of appeared on their favorite Korean drama. A few netizens even pointed out that Kopiko must have a really big budget because they once again became a sponsor for a Korean drama with very well known cast members. Other than that, they are also curious whether or not Kopiko will be consumed by Hong Banjang (played by Kim Seon Ho), and Dr.Yoon Hye Jin (played by Shin Min A) in later episodes, leading them to anticipate future Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha episodes.

This is not the first time Kopiko candy by Mayora has sponsored a Korean drama, because previously Kopiko has also appeared on Korean dramas Vincenzo dan Mine, thus making Indonesian viewers even prouder of the brand.. First released in the 1980s, Kopiko is the first Indonesian coffee candy brand that is able to dominate markets not only in Indonesia, but in over 100 countries worldwide. Moreover, in 2017, Kopiko also became a hot issue after it was seen being brought by NASA to outer space during their Thanksgiving celebrations.

Kopiko is made from real coffee extracted from the best coffee beans harvested near Indonesian volcanoes. As Indonesia’s pride, Kopiko should be appointed as a state asset because in reality, Indonesian coffee is enjoyed by many all over the world, not only in  Asian regions  but also in Europe. Therefore, when they eat Kopiko, they feel as if they are consuming Indonesia’s specialty coffee that they love so much.

So, have you guys watched the Korean drama, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha? You can catch it on Netflix and TvN! It is its own sense of pride to see domestically produced products that we often consume be known internationally.
